Man Receives Life Sentence For Playing Strip Poker With Minors, Sexual Assault
William Thomas Rollins from Bogue Chitto was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday, November 15, for sexually assaulting a girl at least once while engaging two children in a game of strip poker.
Judge Mike Taylor sentenced the 39-year-old Rollins to consecutive sentences of life in prison for sexual battery, 15 years for touching a child for lustful purposes and 364 days each on two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Overall, the sentences will most likely keep Rollins behind bars for life.
"You have been found guilty for some particularly reprehensible crimes. Your conduct is not only illegal, but depraved and disgusting," Taylor said.
Aside from the sexual assault, it was found out during the trial that Rollins would instruct the children to touch each other sexually. The boy is 12, the girl is 13.
"This is one of the most sickening cases I've ever had to try," Assistant District Attorney Diane Jones said.
Meanwhile, Rollins' defense attorney L. Ivan Burghand asked that the judge consider the defendant's early family life, which also involved a number of sexual improprieties, when sentencing him.
Police arrested Rollins' father and stepmother a week after he was arrested. Members of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department searched their house for pornographic material that the couple allegedly allowed the children to view.
